them to retain their independence by coping with every day living and to
live as full a life as practically possible.”
Why the need for our help?
There are a number of factors that
mean there are is a growing need to provide a support network for those
whose health, mobility or circumstances could put their quality of life at
risk particularly the older members of the community:
-
There is a growing portion of the
population of those over 80
-
Fewer younger people in a position
to care for older relatives
-
Increasing pressure on Statutory
Authority finances leading to refocusing of services
We are all affected either because we
have parents who are becoming elderly or we ourselves are growing older.
With the number of those over 50
increasing - generally better life style and improved health means people
are living longer - coupled with a steady reduction in the birth rate in
recent years means that there are fewer family and friends in a position
to take care of people in their old age. Link line is the friendly voice
there when they need it most.
Day or night someone to talk to or
help getting to medical or other appointments or emergency shopping. Link
Line provides the vital support needed to enable them to cope with every
day living and stay independent.
